Committee Description

Topic A – Improving Access to Maternal Healthcare

Improving access to maternal healthcare remains an important issue for many women and girls around the globe. Women face barriers for receiving sufficient prenatal, child birth and postnatal care. These barriers include but are not limited to high expenses, limited hospitals/trained doctors, and geographic areas. Here, delegates are expected to discuss ways to strengthen healthcare systems, making maternal care more accessible and affordable. They’re also encouraged to role of education in aiding women to make informed choices about their health and wellbeing. Overall, this topic would focus on developing sustainable solutions to ensure women have access to safe and effective maternal care.

Topic B – Increasing Access to Education

Education is an important factor for improving opportunities, intellect and independence. To this day, in many third world countries, women and girls face external challenges such as cultural expectations, poverty and limited educational resources. These issues prevent girls from enrolling in school and completing their education. Here, delegates are expected to discuss solutions like scholarships, improved institutes for girls and other resources (such as creating online courses) to make education accessible. Delegates are also encouraged to consider how or if governments and other international organizations can reduce these barriers. All in all, this topic would focus on creating more equal yet accessible opportunities for females.
